Hobblebush

I once found a plant of our native hobblebush with fall leaves of salmon, raspberry, burgundy, and electric lemon yellow, and astounding combination. Usually they are just a soft clear yellow. This is not a combination of colors I normally use, but it was fun to try to capture it. As I've said before working out the background/borders is the most difficult part of a quilt like this. One has to complete and balance the composition and enhance the fabrics and colors you've already selected for the leaves. The large scale plaid at the right side was a surprise find. Hard to say why, but I think it works very well.
