This artwork represents one of my earliest pictorial appliqué pieces from the 1980's. Each edge was sewn down using a zig zag stitch and the flannel clouds were stuffed from behind (trapunto technique). I used a shiny fabric for the slide and nubby fabric for the field. There is hand embroidery around the small figures and parts of the tree. Even though this piece has simple elements, I think that it captures the look of the spring sky in Wyoming very well. For that reason, it was well received by the local audience.
