The biggest threat facing the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is habitat fragmentation. Advocacy is vital to preserving this critical habitat for future generations of life in all its forms. Bozeman, Montana, is located in this ecosystem and is one of the fastest growing small cities in the United States. It demands ever-increasing amounts of land for homes and recreation. To combat this demand, I was involved in the public comment period on the revision plan for the Custer-Gallatin National Forest, a major component of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. I attended meetings, wrote letters, and hosted educational tables and letter writing events. The Forest Service then used this public input to formulate its final revision plan.
