This quilt is from a series of works honouring generations of makers of utilitarian textiles stitched for everyday use in many cultures. This quilt incorporates vintage Japanese cloth, embedded with memory, to explore the common heritage I share with the Japanese makers who stitched the cloth before me, a heritage of making-do. Innovation born of necessity, such a strong part of my own family history, is a common thread shared across cultures.
