Etude

In the orchestra pit the musicians tune up, oblivious to the sounds of the other instruments. On stage the curtains open and the audience abruptly quiets. The director raises his baton and the song begins simply, followed by a verse with colorful chords. On to the solo chorus, and then a bridge back to the complex refrain, continuing to a slow completion. The crowd is silent until the maestro lowers his hands. The moment is magical, followed by thunderous applause.
