I was commissioned to make this quilt for the wedding of a Chinese groom and an American bride. The request was for me to bring together the two cultures. The bride and groom were both born in the Year of the Tiger so I machine appliqued tigers coming together from their stylized homes. I used fireworks to represent a celebration. When I was creating this quilt, photo transfer was a new innovation and I used it for the Chinese characters in the border. I enclosed the characters in traditional log cabin blocks.
