Dilemma

A spinal aneurysm in 2016 caused me to lose all movement from my waist down. After emergency surgery and a lengthy stay in a hospital and in a rehabilitation center, I came home to start the slow, arduous process of regaining my ability to walk. My “miracle” recovery, while extensive, is not complete and I have had to come to terms with my body’s new limitations. This quilt reflects my journey—the pain and struggle of rehabilitation, the grief over what I have lost, but also the newfound hope and joy in what I have been given back.
