Details of the Journey

These scrolls represent records of journeys. They focus on Nature's intimate gifts- the individual objects and events that make me feel a connection to universal truths. I embrace a feast of details, patterns, textures, found objects to find visual poems and to celebrate alternate priorities. These pieces are about layering, creating histories with complex surfaces that allude to time and experience.

Explorations of mixed media painting and printing techniques are joined with a focus on embroidery for embellishment and expression. With the languages of stitches, marks and patterns on hand printed textiles and vintage materials, I connect to eras when people lived by the cadences of the earth, times when both subjects and symbolism had spiritual bonds with nature.
