I live in Alaska. My husband fishes the Copper River every year for salmon, which has always been plentiful. In 2017 he fished with our future son-in-law for the wedding reception dinner.
If the wedding had happened in 2018, there wouldn’t have been any fish. Scientists think the reason was the “Blob”—a large mass of unusually warm water in the Gulf of Alaska from 2014-2016 when young sockeye salmon swam out to feed.* Climate modeling suggests the Blob would not have occurred without human-induced global warming. Demanding alternatives to fossil fuels and using personal tracking apps such as GreenFoot: Carbon Footprint may help.
