In the words of food writer M.F.K. Fisher, “It seems to me that our three basic needs for food, and security and love are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others.” The tradition of the crab feast is found in the coastal communities of Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. This piece is my homage to the conviviality of the crab feast and my favorite painting, Luncheon of the Boating Party by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
