From Building Blocks to Marriage Blocks

This chuppah morphed into something different when it became clear my father would not be alive for my son’s wedding. I figured out a way he could be present in spirit: together we traced his arms and hands, and after that I got drawings from family still living. The ghost white portions-the building block design and the hands-reference all early nature/nurture influences each partner brought to this union. The colored parts, dyed to a palette they picked together, reflects the couple’s new life together.
