These roots from a petrified tree on a barrier island represent my first attempt at what I now call "fiberography" the combination of digital and fiber art. In hindsight, it was the perfect subject to launch this phase of my work. The roots represent centuries of fiber art that form the platform of and are substance for what we have today and will create tomorrow. Frozen in time, this tree is a tribute to all fiber artists who came before us, while the live trees in the background are descendants exploring and embracing new technology. The result is art that reflects the time and culture of the creator with homage to all that contributed to this evolution.
