Curated by Denise Oyama Miller, this gallery of SAQA Trunk Show pieces recognizes and celebrates the amazing diversity in techniques being used by today’s textile artists. The range of techniques go from traditional piecing, applique, and embroidery to a variety of techniques, such as fusing, dyeing, mixed media, painting, photo transfer, printing, felting, to name a few.
In addition, the art quilt is not just 2-dimensional anymore. It includes 3-dimensional sculptural work to delight the viewers. The number of techniques and combinations of techniques continues to expand as artists try new ideas for creating their work. Textiles play so well with many other art mediums!
