For more than a decade, NASA’s Cassini mission observed Saturn. With its atmosphere made up mostly of hydrogen and helium, Saturn does not have a solid surface like earth, although it may have a small, dense core of rocks and minerals. Cassini identified a hexagonal area on the north pole, which has been explained as a mega-storm of swirling gasses. To interpret this phenomenon, I have used non-bonded fabric to represent the gas enveloping the core. To convey its containment and ring markings, I have used net with continuous stitch lines.
